Michael "Mike" Veltri

Mike was born in Elkins, West Virginia, and came to Chaffee County at age 4. Except for his military service, he lived in Chaffee County, Colorado.

He joined the Army in 1943. Most likely received Basic Training at Fort McClellan, Alabama. Served in the 31st Dixie Division and fought in the Philippines. He was never wounded and was discharged from the Army in late 1945.

 

Mike's wife's name was Mary (Butala). They had four children: Charles "Chuck", Carol Ann, Janice, and Joe.

He was my mother's, Louise (Veltri) Hyder's Brother.
